Client: AJC Developments
Location: Beaulieu Road, Hythe
Former Medical Centre, Beaulieu Road, Hythe
Project: 15 Apartments & 7 Houses
Project Description: GSJP were tasked to provide groundworks for the roads, sub-structures, drainage & external works to a select development of affordable housing at Hythe in the New Forest for our client AJC Developments. New Forest District Council are the end user for the project providing homes for local residents.
Construction: GSJP were contracted by AJC as the Principal Contractor for the initial period of 22 weeks. The works included the main road installation completed in two phases with the associated foul & storm drainage through to base course tarmac. The new housing units were distributed within 5 blocks constructed of traditional deep strip foundations with heave guard provided in the areas impacted by nearby trees. Sub-structure masonry supported the block & beam floors which included a reinforced structural topping as part of our works.
Block E was particularly challenging with the depths of foundation and masonry whilst incorporating a RC Wall adjacent to its perimeter forming a localised walkway.
Storm drainage was dealt with by means of localised crate soakaways minimising any off-site discharge.
Planning & Execution: We worked closely with our client pre-contract to maximise any potential programme gains and this saw us complete our phase 1 works a full 8 weeks ahead of schedule. Local residents and an active ambulance station had to be factored in to our working schedule and disruption was kept to an absolute minimum.
Health & Safety: Here at GSJP we pride ourselves on the standards we set with our Health & Safety awareness, training and actions. The site is constantly monitored by our in-house H&S manager with all planned works analysed, planned and monitored to ensure our workforce operate within the safest environment possible. No reportable incidents were recorded during the 22-week construction process and this is testament to our working practices.
Quality: Our work standards are set high, and this pays dividends with the negotiated repeat work we experience from our clients. During the project we scored highly in our NHBC & Local Authority inspections with no reportable defects. We have ongoing training plans to ensure our workforce are offered the upmost support to achieve the standards we set as a business.
Relationships: SQAP. Safety, quality & production ensures that we have enhanced our relationship with the project client.
