Havant & South Downs College
Project: New Teaching Facility Block @ Havant College
Project Description: GSJP returned to Havant College to complete the externals phase of the New Teaching Facility at Havant College. This involved shallow perimeter stormwater drainage, service installations, the commissioning of the foul pumping chamber, external hard paved tarmac surfacing, a permeable grassgrid fire access roadway and the forming of some additional tarmac parking bays at the front of the college along with a new cycle shelter.
Planning & Execution: The works had to be carefully co-ordinated with the college due to it being exam season. A strict timetable of reduced noise control had to be implemented around the live college campus. This meant that we drew up a plan of categorised noise zones dependent on the location of exams and the planned work required. This close co-ordination with the college ensured that there was minimal disruption to the programmed works, which saved the client from expensive down time during the construction phase. This shows the collaborative approach we undertake at GSJP to ensure operational & commercial synergy.
Health & Safety: All works were carried out on the live campus without incident, all in compliance with our in-house RAMS provided by our H&S Manager. The works were carried out within an area of restricted space whilst ensuring that all trades were able to access & exit the building safely.
Quality: The final product produced by the team has received high praise from the client & end user and is a credit to our team’s expectations of themselves and the standards we set ourselves as the sub-contractor.
Relationships: Not only do we nurture our relationship with the client, we ensure that this applies to the relationship between our site team and the clients’ representatives. A happy site is a productive site. By taking the angst out of construction, we provide an environment that promotes wellbeing in this high paced industry.
