Contracts Manager
Mat is the Contracts Manager at GSJP, responsible for managing all operatives across active sites and overseeing labour allocation. He plays a key role in the planning and programming of works to support cost control and procurement. Mat maintains close communication with clients through regular updates, weekly reporting, and site meetings, and is actively involved in business development and strategic planning as part of the senior leadership team. His role also includes participating in procurement and commercial meetings, as well as supporting operative development through training and performance oversight.
Mat began his career as a bricklayer before moving into the utilities industry, where he worked on major gas replacement projects for clients such as SSE, Wessex Water, and SGN. In February 2019, he joined GSJP as a groundworker, quickly progressing to site foreman within a year. As the company grew, Mat was given the opportunity to oversee multiple projects and proudly became GSJP’s first Contracts Manager. Since then, he has taken on larger-scale projects and an expanding team of operatives, building strong client relationships that have helped secure ongoing work.
What Mat enjoys most about working for GSJP is the progression. With a strong mindset to be the best in his role, he pushes himself daily and thrives in the positive atmosphere created by the team. Outside of work, Mat enjoys coaching youth football alongside his son and their teammates in the Dorset League, unwinding with friends on the golf course, and spending quality time with his wife, children, and the family dog.
